iOS devices contain a feature that allows users to set up a proxy so that all of the network related requests from the device are forwarded to that proxy server. This kind of feature is commonly utilized in business and school networks. It also useful for hiding IP address especially when accessing sites that are blocked within your network or region.

The process of configuring a proxy server on iPhone is easy. The only thing that is needed is the credential details of the proxy server – this will be used to set up the proxy on the iPhone.

Steps on Configuring and Using Proxy on iPhone or iPad:

  1. From the homepage, go to Settings > Wi-Fi
  2. Select the network you are currently connected to. You will be directed to another page.
  3. Scroll down to the bottom and look for “HTTP PROXY”; By default, this is set to off. You can either change it to either Auto or Manual. If you choose Auto, proceed to step 4. If you opt to choose Manual, proceed to Step 5 to 7.
  4. By choosing Auto, a new field will be shown for the URL. In this field, you will enter the address of the proxy auto-configuration script.
  5. By choosing Manual, you need to have the proxy server’s address and port.
  6. In the Server field, enter the address of the proxy server and enter the port number.
  7. If the proxy server you’re employing requires username and password, toggle the Authentication and enter the necessary details.
  8. If all the details entered are correct, the iOS device should now forward all network-related requests to the proxy server you’ve recently configured. If you are now able to access the internet and websites without encountering any errors, then the proxy configuration was correct.
  9. If you are unable to access the internet or you encountered errors after enabling proxy, it means that there are issues regarding the credentials or the proxy server itself has issues.

As you can see, the process of configuring a proxy on iPhone or iPad has simple requirements and easy to follow.
